The spotlight is on the local authority after Longford County Council secured funding.
The Minister for Enterprise says Westmeath County Council needs to "step up to the mark" when it comes to a decommissioned barracks in the county.
Columb Barracks closed in 2012 and the local authority decided against taking responsibility for management of the site in 2018.
The Land Development Agency has been its administrator since.
It follows the local authority in Longford securing €7m in Town Centre First funding for Connolly Barracks.
