The National Lottery is encouraging players in the county to check their tickets.
A lucky Westmeath Lotto player is in line to be €500,000 richer.
The winning EuroMillions Plus ticket was scooped up on Tuesday at Tuthill’s newsagents in the Golden Island Shopping Centre, Athlone, Co. Westmeath.
Lotto players in the county are being encouraged to check the back of their tickets, and make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team at 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie.
The winning numbers for last night's EuroMillions Plus draw were: 2, 7, 12, 36, 45.
Manager of the store, Joe Callinan, was delighted to get the call that his store sold the winning ticket: “This is our first big win, so we’re absolutely over the moon. We’re a small little store located in the busy Golden Island Shopping Centre, so we’re kept going! Locals have told me that the previous store that was here before sold a big win on a National Lottery ticket a couple of years back, so we must be in a good spot!
I’m sure we’ll be swamped with customers and enquiries over the next couple of days, so we’re very much looking forward to that. We want to wish the winners all the best, and I’m sure they’ll be having a very good Christmas with their windfall of cash."
