Weak pest control, open pipes and rat droppings led to a Westmeath take away being served a closure order last month.
Take Away Express on Northgate Street in Athlone was issued the order on December 13th under the FSAI Act 1998, which was lifted three days later on the 16th.
It was one of six food businesses across the country that was served a closure order by The Food Safety Authority of Ireland last month.
The FSAI served 133 enforcement orders on food businesses in 2024, an increase of 45% from the 92 orders issued in 2023.
