A Westmeath woman is calling on volunteers to help establish a food bank in her town.
Lisa Malone, aims to open Athlone's first community run food bank early next year, and plans to host a January public meeting to seek ideas on the pantry’s operations and options for sourcing non-perishable foods.
Together with a team of local volunteers, she has been organising a Christmas dinner at St Kieran’s Community Centre in Athlone over the past three years.
