96 Weeks For Ref-Shoving Tullamore Man

Barry Tiernan found himself in the eye of a storm at the final whistle last month.

The Tullamore player that shoved a referee to the ground after a Leinster Club Championship game is facing a 96-week ban. 

Barry Tiernan was knocked over by a non-playing member of the Offaly club's panel in the wake of a defeat to Summerhill. 

A Tullamore official that was also involved in a post-match fracas has seen a 48-week suspension proposed.

A €2,500 fine has also been issued to the club for the alleged incidents.

The Offaly champions led the game for 56 minutes until drama enveloped the closing stages of the provincial clash.

Summerhill went from two points down to a point ahead thanks to a late deflected goal.

Tullamore applied pressure until the end and thought they'd be rewarded with a penalty, only to see it overturned.

Defeat and the controversial scenes followed to leave Niall Stack's side counting the cost of their last outing of the season.
