Athlone Town Could Move Within Two Points Of Playoffs This Evening

Basement boys Wexford make the trip to Lissywoolen.

Athlone Town could close the gap with the playoff spots in the SSE Airtricity First Division to two points tonight. 

Paul Doolin's side welcome basement boys Wexford to Lissywoolen from 7.45.

There's been a two week break since their impressive victory over the team one place above them in the table, Bray Wanderers. 

It is one of two very winnable fixtures against the bottom two in the table in the last five for the Westmeath side. 

They finish their campaign against Cobh Ramblers but sandwich between that are clashes with champions elect Shelbourne, Cabinteely and Treaty United. 

Athlone could need as many as four wins in their last five to secure a playoff berth. 

Doolin will have to do without the services of summer signing Tunmise Sobowale, who is serving a one game suspension. 

Wexford themselves are missing Ian Ryan as he serves a two game ban for a red card picked up recently. 

Elsewhere tonight runaway leaders Shelbourne host Cabinteely, it's second against third as UCD meet Galway and Treaty United face Cork City.
