He is in a strong position to qualify for the final.
Belmont's Darragh Kenny has jumped a clear round in the jumping individual qualifier in Tokyo.
Kenny and his mount VDL Cartello made short work of the course to zip around in 82.01 to qualify second overall.
Both Bertram Allen and Cian O'Connor will join him in the final.
It gets underway at 11am Irish time with Kenny scheduled to take to the arena second to last.

First of the Irish riders to go in today's Olympic Show Jumping individual qualifier, Darragh Kenny and VDL Cartello jump an outstanding clear round.
That puts them in the lead after 8 have jumped with only two clears so far.
