Ryan takes over from Dario Castelo.
Athlone Town's two-month search for a new manager has come to an end.
Ian Ryan was appointed by the First Division strugglers last night.
Ryan takes over from Dario Castelo who departed the role by mutual consent just under two months ago.
The midlanders currently sit bottom of the First Division having already recorded 10 defeats in just 17 leagues this season.
Kerry FC will be Ryan's first opponents this weekend, the Munster side beat Athlone 3-0 in Castelo's last game in charge.
