Coralstown Kinnegad were narrow losers in the semi-final stages of the Westmeath Senior Football Championship.

"The Downs fully deserved their win"

That's Paschal Kellaghan's assessment of his side's departure from the Westmeath Senior Football Championship at the semi-final stages.

Coralstown Kinnegad were the better side in the first half and would have expected to reach half time with a lead of at least a couple of points.

However just before the break Brían Cooney saw his effort on goal rebound off the woodwork - from the resulting counter attack The Downs scored a goal that put them a single point up.

Johnny Murray's side managed to maintain that slender lead until full time to qualify for this year's county final against St Loman's.

Kellaghan says despite an effective six point swing at half time, his side still had the chance to win the game:
