The Armagh All Ireland winner will succeed Billy Sheehan.
Laois GAA have announced their intention to recommend the return of Justin McNulty to take over the O'Moore County senior footballers.
McNulty is set to take a three year deal to succeed Billy Sheehan.
To start, the Armagh man will be tasked with finding a way out of Division Four of the National Football League.
An All Ireland winner as a player with the Orchard County, McNulty previously led Laois to Division One in 2011.
Laois GAA said: "Justin will work with the county board and players' leadership group to finalise the coaching team over the coming weeks".
