Laois SFC: 2024 Finalits Secure First Round Wins

This was the first weekend the new rules were played out in the county.

The opening round of the Laois Senior Football Championship got underway at the weekend.

There were eight games completed all across the week.

Reigning champions Portarlington got off the mark with a 2-16 to 0-12 win over The Heath in their opening game.

Ballyroan Abbey proved too strong for Emo as they secured a 3-19 to 3-10 win over their opponents in an entertaining clash.
2023 champions St Joseph's had a resounding 1-18 to 0-5 win over Ballyfin.

Meanwhile, Graiguecullen just about edged out Stradbally on a scoreline of 2-18 to 1-17.

There were four games played on Saturday.

The beaten 2024 finalists Portlaoise made a big statement with a 5-17 to 2-8 win over O'Dempseys.

Courtwood claimed a resounding victory over Crettyard which finished 2-23 to 0-10.

Killeshin had a comfortable 2-17 to 0-9 win over Clonaslee, while Arles Killeen saw off a tough challenge from Rosenallis as they won 3-17 to 3-15.
