Lowry Falls Short In Bid For Second Open Championship Title

The Clara man is however up in the latest golf world rankings.

Offaly's Shane Lowry's bid to win a second Open Championship title came up short at Royal Troon yesterday. 

America's Xander Schauffele ended as the winner, having finished on nine-under-par. 

That was good enough for a two-shot victory. 

Lowry was back in sixth place on four-under-par. 

Padraig Harrington finished up on 4-over-par while Tom McKibbin was 12-over with Darren Clarke 15-over-par.

After the last major of the year, Lowry has moved up to 27th in the world rankings after his sixth place finish.

While Schauffele has moved up to second in the world rankings, following his triumph.

That means Rory McIlroy - who missed the cut at Royal Troon - drops to third.

After his sixth placed finish, Shane Lowry rises to 27th, with Scottie Scheffler retaining his place at the summit.
