The Clara golfer played the front nine at Bay Hill in one under before playing the next four holes in five under par.
His next hole saw his only bogey at the 14th. Lowry got that shot back at 17 to card an excellent 6 under par round of 66 to hold a one shot lead heading into day 2.
After struggling for years at Bay Hill, the 2019 Open Champion says he knew he was in good form this week.
