Mixed Weekend For Athlone Teams

There was euphoria for the women and disappointment for the men.

Athlone Town had to settle for a win and a loss over the weekend.

The women's side took home a victory in dramatic fashion in the Sports Direct Womens FAI Cup against Galway United after going scoreless in 90 minutes and extra time.

That game went to penalties, with a final score of 5-4.

Ciaran Kilduff's side will face Bohemians in the Cup next, after they got the best of Cabinteely 3-0.

There was a more disappointing result for the men's team, who were handed a loss by Wexford.

2-0 was the final scoreline on Friday evening.
