Westmeath Begin Joe McDonagh With Defeat

All eyes now turn to a crunch match with Kildare this weekend.

Westmeath manager Seoirse Bulfin says he was disappointed with how his side performed in their opening Joe McDonagh Cup defeat to Laois on Saturday.

Despite a steady start from The Lake County the home side began to take control towards the end of the opening half as a goal from Mossy Keyes helped Tommy's Fitzgerald's team into a 1-16 to 10 point advantage at the break.

In the end it was a comfortable win for Laois, as they ran out nine point winners on a 3-25 to 1-22 scoreline

Bulfin says his side went flat following the O'Moore County's opening goal.

Wesmeath now face into a must win game away to Kildare on Saturday.
