An overwhelming majority of older people surveyed want an Independent Commissioner for Ageing in Ireland. The role, already in place in Northern Ireland and Wales, would see a person appointed like an Ombudsman to advocate for over 65s. 94% of older people surveyed by Active Retirement Ireland say they wanted the office set up here.
