There's something for everyone at heritage weeks events.
Over 170 events are planned across the midlands for National Heritage Week.
The events kick off from Saturday and run up until Sunday the 24th, Ireland’s culture and historical roots will be celebrated through the theme 'Exploring Our Foundations'.
In Laois you can get up close and personal with bees at the Beekeeping Open Day in Stradbally Hall Estate where there's an actual observation hive with glass walls, allowing you to see the Queen Bee and her hardworking hive in action.
And for the young explorers in your life you can head over to Emo Court for the magical Children’s Seek and Find.
It's an adventure through the house where you’ll be spotting hidden patterns, curious textures, quirky shapes, and maybe even a few surprises!
Over in Offaly, things are getting creative with coffee mornings, book Launches and even crotchet meetups.
The Banagher Brontë Group is hosting many events in Banagher, Tullamore and on the Shannon, all highlighting and celebrating the connection between the Offaly town and the famous literary Brontës from Yorkshire.
In Westmeath you can explore the heart of rural Ireland at Dún na Sí Amenity and Heritage park in Moate, there is the option of learning about the historic landscape of Belvedere house and gardens in Mullingar or you can gain an exclusive insight into the social history of the time at Tullynally Castle.
