They're the words of Longford Westmeath Sinn Féin TD Sorca Clarke, after CSO figures showed men in the region were paid more than €150 more than women on average in 2021.
Men earned €818 on average per week, while women received €647.
The average employee in the region earned a weekly wage of €733, according to the figures
Laois residents were paid the most, at €749, followed by €740 in Westmeath and €711 in Offaly.
The average wage across the country was €820.
