A petition to make Edenderry Garda Station open 24 hours a day is nearing its goal.
The Justice Minister and Garda Commissioner need to hold a public meeting with residents in an Offaly town after a fatal arson attack.
That's the message from Edenderry resident Ross McCann, who has started an online petition to reopen Edenderry Garda station to 24 hours a day.
He says his past experiences there have involved struggling to get a Gardai, and giving a statement in a public car park.
The petition addressed to the Garda Commissioner and the Justice Minister is nearing its goal of 2,000 signatures in just under 48 hours.
