The action which was to take place in areas including Ballinasloe has been postponed until October 15th.
The Psychiatric Nurses Association says it has postponed industrial action which was due to take place in Galway and Roscommon tomorrow.
The union says the decision was taken following a conciliation hearing at the Workplace Relations Commission in the past week, over long-standing issues union members have with HSE management at centres in the region.
The action has been postponed until the 15th of October, subject to the outcome of another WRC hearing on the 8th of October.
