Ballinamere, Kilcormac-Killoughey and Birr also secured wins.
The second round of the Offaly Senior Hurling Championship took centre stage over the course of the weekend.
With both of last season's finalists picking up much needed wins.
Reigning Offaly Senior Hurling champions Shinrone made it back-to-back wins, but had to work hard to see off the challenge of Seir Kieran on Saturday.
Trevor Fletcher's men held on to secure a one point win in Birr on a scoreline of 1-17 to 2-13 in group 2.
Elsewhere in Group 2, Ballinamere got their season off to a winning start thanks to their victory over Coolderry.
Despite two late Brian Carroll goals, Coolderry couldn't peg back the deficit, as Niall Rigney's side were 1-22 to 2-16 winners, with Brian Duignan scoring 0-09.
In Group 1, Birr had no such problems as they were comfortable winners over Tullamore.
Gary Cahill's side ran out 3-16 to 1-14 winners, to claim their second win of the championship.
Lochlann Quinn, Colm Mulrooney and Niall Lyons got the goals for Birr.
And finally Kilcormac-Killoughey claimed their opening win with a 1-20 to 0-15 victory over Kinnitty on Thursday night.
Adam Screeney scored 0-07 on his senior club debut, while Charlie Mitchell got the game's only goal.
The next round of fixtures will take place in two weeks.
